Mekong Delta day tour – Cai Rang floating market

Mr. Ninh arranged a wonderful trip for us from Saigon to the Cai Rang floating market. I tried to arrange a day trip to Cai Rang with other more reviewed Mekong delta tour groups with no luck. They would only go to Cai Be in one day, which is not the same as Cai Rang. If your so lucky to be in the Mekong Delta, then my feeling was we need to see the real floating market. Mr. Ninh was very easy to communicate via email and came to our hotel the day before to collect our payment. ..

Day 1: Arrival Da Nang (L, D)

Arrive in Da Nang airport, our guide and driver will pick you up for hotel check in and refresh. In the afternoon, we will transfer to Ba Na, and take a cable car trip (awarded 2 GUINNESS records) to Ba Na Hills, enjoying green natural forests and Dream Stream, Elephant Rock, Rainbow from above. Take a walking tour to visit Linh Ung Pagoda with the Big Buddha Statue, visit Le Jardin Garden, the Old Wine Vault, playing game at Fantasy Park, ect. Have lunch and photo stops. Afternoon, car drive to Da Nang for looking around at the Han Market.

Day 2: Da Nang – Hue – Da Nang (B, L, D)

0730h: Your English speaking guide & driver will pick you up at your hotel and you will start your journey to Hue. First you will travel along the coast road and drive through the busy city of Da Nang before travelling to the top of Hai Pass.

The pass which once formed the boundary between the kingdoms of Dai Viet and Champa, also forms a boundary between the climates of northern and southern Vietnam, sheltering the city of Da Nang from the winds that blow in from the northwest.

After stopping to take some spectacular photos your driver will take you slowly down the winding road toward Lan Co Beach on the way to Hue.

Lang Co Beach is an attractive, narrow peninsular stretch of white sand and palm trees, with a deep blue lagoon on one side and 10 kms of beachfront on the other.

1100h: You will arrive in Hue and visit the Imperial Citadel which is similar the Chinese Forbidden City in Beijing and is not to be missed. Building began in 1805 and the construction was not completed until 1835. Enclosed by a wall covering a distance of 10,000m and a moat, the Citadel was once the exclusive home of the Nguyen Imperial Family.

1200h: You will enjoy a set menu lunch at Le Fadins restaurant.

After lunch you Cruise on the Perfume River to visit several of the larger Pagodas and Tombs located along the river including the Thien Mu pagoda. Built on a hillock overlooking the Perfume river, it is an icon of Vietnam and the symbol of Hue city. You will also visit Tu Duc tomb. Tu Duc designed the exquisitely harmonious tomb, which was constructed between 1864 and 1867, for use both before and after his death.

1500h: Return to Hue and start your drive back through the road tunnel under Hai Van Pass.

1800h: Arrive Da Nang. Stay overnight in Da Nang.

Day 3: Da Nang – My Son – Hoi An – Da Nang (B, L)

Have breakfast at hotel. You enjoy a half-day walking tour through the narrow winding streets of the Ancient Quarter visiting Hoi An Handicraft Workshop for shopping and an opportunity of watching cultural shows performed by local people. Visit of Chua Ong PagodaChinese Assembly Hallsthe 200 – year old Tam Ky ancestral house, and the Japanese Bridge. Have lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon, proceed to My Son Sanctuary in Quang Nam province – the other World Cultural Heritage site with ancient towers and temples built 1000 years ago. Back to Da Nang. Stay overnight in Da Nang.

Day 4: Da Nang – Ha Noi (B/L)

Pick up on your arrival and drive into Hanoi center for refresh and have lunch.

After lunch, we will begin your discovery with visits to Ho Chi Minh complex including Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, his home on-stilts, the One-Pillar pagoda and proceed to the Temple of Literature – the first college of Vietnam and the spot committing to Confucian. A Green Car (or cyclo ride) visit around the Old Quarter to encounter the energizing nearby every day life of Hanoians. Stopover to visit the Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son sanctuary. Visit closes after some espresso or tea at a legitimate Hanoi corner bistro where you can have chats with neighborhood individuals, trade social lifestyle.

In the evening, after refresh, our guide will pick you up for the walking tour of Hanoi for the night life and local street foods of Hanoi. Stay overnight in Hanoi.

Day 5: Hanoi – Hoa Luu – Tam Coc (B/L)

You will commence your Hoa Lu Tam Coc Day Tour Hanoi at 8.00-8.30 am with our guide and driver’s pick-up at your hotel in Old Quarter for Ninh Binh city

10.30-11.00 am: You will reach Hoa Lu Ancient Capital.

In 968, Dinh Bo Linh declared himself as the King. Since then Hoa Lu existed as the capital for the next 41 years (968 – 1009), of which 12 years was under the Dinh dynasty – King Dinh Tien Hoang, the country named Dai Co Viet, and 29 years later was under the Le dynasty – King Le Dai Hanh. In 1010, King Ly Thai To moved the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long – present day Hanoi. Hoa Lu became the old citadel. In Hoa Lu there are now 2 temples have been built on the ground of the old royal palace, one is dedicated to King Dinh Tien Hoang, the other is to King Le Dai Hanh. The visit offers a chance to know more about part of feudal dynasties and historical periods in Vietnamese history.

12:00pm: Today you will enjoy buffet lunch at local restaurant in Tam Coc named Duc Tuan restaurant. The food is served with Asian stype, local dishes, organic vegetable. The Duc Tuan is located on the river overview Tam Coc, you can enjoy the view of overal riverside until you finish your lunch

1:30pm: After finishing your lunch, you will be taking the rowing boat at Tam Coc Harbour. Arranged by local people here, the boat is rowed by both hand and legs. The boat will take you to 3 specular caves with hundreds of limestones  on the way. If you travel during harvest season, you will see many terrace rice fields in golden colours.

The boat rowing will be in around 2 hours. Not only you could see the peaceful scenery of mountain, rice paddy fields, temples, you also have chances to learn about local people cultures on their daily life.

Optional activities: Riding bicycles or buffalow rides

4:00pm leave Tam Coc and drive back to Hanoi. Arrive Hanoi at around 6:30pm. stay overnight in Hanoi!

Day 6: Ha Noi – Bai Tu Long Bay – Kayaking – Vung Vieng Fishing Village

  • 12.30 Boarding time.
  • 13.00 Check-in your cabin.
  • 13: 15 The Cruise Manager will give a welcome speech with all the cruise information and Safety instructions.
  • 13: 30 Enjoy the Buffet Lunch with the best products of the Bay.
  • 15:30 Visit the Vung Vieng Floating fishing village. Kayak around the area.
  • 15.30-16.30 If you want to relax on the boat instead of participating in other activities feel free to use our sauna for no extra cost.
  • 16:30 Relaxing time : the right moment for a massage or to take some pictures of the spectacular sunset in the bay.

  Day 7: Cong Dam area (B/L/D)

  • 06:30 Practice one of the oldest traditions of East Asia: Tai Chi – A beautiful and relaxing experience on the open deck.
  • 07:00-08:30 Breakfast is served in the restaurant.
  • 08:30 Transfer on the day boat to start an incredible trip around Ha Long Bay. Surrounded by a breathless landscape, you will discover some of the most beautiful corners of the bay.
    Enjoy Kayaking in the area.
  • 12:00 Have lunch on the boat.
  • 15:30-16.30 Back to the Athena Cruise and you will have some free time. Relax in your cabin or on the Sun deck.

 Day 8: Bai Tu Long Bay – Thien Canh Son Cave – Hanoi (B/L)

  • 07:00 The Early Bird Coffee is ready to wake up you
  • 07:30 Explore Thien Canh Son cave in Ha Long Bay. Witness its beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.
    Note: there are about 400 steps to get up to the cave.
  • 09:00 Check out time.
    Please put your luggage outside the cabin and the key at the reception desk.
    Our staff will transfer your luggage into our lounge for you.
  • 09:00 Bill settlement at the reception desk.
  • 09:30 Brunch is served at the restaurant on the 2nd deck.
  • 10:45 The boat arrives to the pier.
    Have transfer back to the hotel in Hanoi. stay overnight in Hanoi.

Day 9: Perfume Pagoda Day Tour Hanoi (B/L)

Begin Perfume pagoda day tour Hanoi at 8:00 am with our guide and driver will pick up from your hotel  to Perfume Pagoda with about 2-hours bus trip through Vietnamese villages. On arrival, take a short walk long the beautiful landscapes to Yen wharf for enjoy a rowing boat along Yen stream with crossing by many Buddish shrines and pagodas. Visit Trinh temple and trek up to the “Huong Tich” cave on the top of the mountain (Optional for cable cabin up/down mountain peak for visit main Huong Tich Pagoda).

 

In the afternoon, trekking down and time for lunch before enjoy a leisure time around for visit Thien Tru pagoda, shopping, worshiping and breaking.After that coming back Thien Tru wharf get on your rowing boat back to Yen Wharf for getting on your bus back to Ha Noi about 7 pm. Have free time to visit Hanoi in the evening.

Day 10: Departure (B)

Have breakfast and free at leisure until airport transfer. End services.
